Description
The Sinusoidal Variation series are a set of algorithmically generated prints inspired by concepts and strategies used in audio synthesis. The algorithm uses a series of sine waves that determine the position and size of the visible geometry, and it is employed in a way that creates visual interferences and resonances. All members of the series utilize the exact same algorithm, but each uses different starting parameters, which results in images that can seem quite distinct from one another. These parameters include the waveform amplitude, the frequency of the waveform, the amount of frequency modulation applied to the waveform, the amount of amplitude modulation, the number of geometry samples the algorithm creates, and the colors used.
Sinusoidal Variation 5 is produced in an edition of 10. Each print is signed and numbered, and it includes a signed certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on Canson Rag Photographique paper, using archival pigment printing, and have a sheet size of 70cm x 50cm (approx. 27.5″ x 19.6″), which includes a 2.5cm (1″) border. They are printed locally in the Detroit area.
